In Memoriam
Our founder, partner, and dear friend, Ben T. Morris, passed away on June 26, 2023 after a brave 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Ben co-founded Sanders Morris in 1987 and held various executive positions within Sanders Morris and its affiliates. Notably, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Sanders Morris Harris, a publicly traded company, from 2000 to 2009. Before that, Ben served as the Chief Operating Officer of Tatham Corporation, a firm active in the oil and gas industry. He also held positions as Chief Financial Officer and then President at Mid-American Oil Company, which specialized in the exploration, production, and transportation of oil and natural gas. Ben began his career at Price Waterhouse & Co., an international public accounting firm. Over his career, he served as a director for numerous public and private companies. He earned a BBA from the University of North Texas, held a CPA license, and several securities licenses, including a Securities Principal.
